The first five new BMW R 1250 RT-P motorcycles were handed over at the BMW Welt.

New motorcycles for the Bavarian police.

Munich, November 2019

“The BMW R 1250 RT is powerful, state-of-the-art and very safe,” said Herrmann, praising the properties of the new police motorcycles. “This gives our police officers an excellent tool for their work.” Seven more BMW motorcycles have already been ordered.
As Herrmann explained, the new police motorcycles are extensively equipped: “We attach top priority to ensuring the greatest possible safety for our police officers.” Among other things, the machines are fitted with Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), ABS Pro depending on banking angle, and Hill Start Control Pro. According to Herrmann, police experts were actively involved in developing the new model. For example, there are additional flashing beacons at the rear, special reflective surfaces for better recognition and a radio antenna of the latest generation that ensures optimum communication.
Herrmann noted that police motorcycles are a key resource. The Bavarian police have a total of 250 police motorcycles, 170 of which are uniformed. The range of applications extends from traffic monitoring to escorting state guests. BMW Motorrad won the EU-wide tender for a multi-year framework contract to supply the Bavarian police with uniformed motorcycles back in 2017.
Timo Resch: “BMW Motorrad has a long tradition of supplying authorities. Last year we delivered some 2,500 official vehicles worldwide. We are delighted to be able to hand over this new BMW R 1250 RT to the Bavarian police today. The vehicles are developed in close cooperation between BMW Motorrad and the police. I think everyone involved is looking forward to seeing the new models in use – including the police officers who will ride the motorcycles."
